Niagara point facets: find the category of a unit
Open the toolFind in seconds the Niagara unit of a point and the category (quantity in Niagara) where to select it in the facets. Type a symbol (kWh, m³/h, psi), an English or French name, or a BMS trade word (pressure, flow, CO2): the tool shows the exact name used by Niagara.
How to use the tool
Type what you are looking for
A symbol, a name or a trade word. Case, accents and superscripts are ignored: m3/h and m³/h give the same result. Several words narrow the search (they must all match).
Spot the category
Each unit shows its Niagara category (quantity) on its right: in English, as it appears in Niagara, with the French translation below. The most relevant units come first.
Select it in Niagara
In the facets unit selector, first pick the category shown on the right of the unit, then the unit by its English name (in bold), which is the Niagara one.

Example facets configuration in Niagara
In Workbench, a point's facets are entered in a three-column table: Key, Type and Value.
| Key | Type | Value | Meaning |
|---|---|---|---|
| units | unit | celsius | The unit, to pick in the category given by the tool. |
| precision | integer | 1 | One decimal place (display only, the value is not rounded). |
| min | double | 10 | Minimum value: bounds the input on a writable point and the chart scale. |
| max | double | 30 | Maximum value, same role as min. |
| showUnits | boolean | true | Displays the unit next to the value. |
min and max are not alarm limits: those are set in the point's alarm extension. For a counter, min = 0 and no max.
Where the data comes from
Units come from the units.xml file of Niagara 4.15.5.22: names, symbols and categories are Niagara's. French names and trade keywords were added by BMS Forge to make searching easier.
Known limitations
- French translations are indicative: Niagara displays the English name, which is the one to select.
- Units match Niagara 4.15.5.22. Another version may add or rename a few units.
- A one-character search only finds exact symbols (W, V, A…).
