BMS Data Validator

Open the tool

Detect discrepancies in seconds between your BMS point design list and the points actually integrated in your Niagara supervision. Perfect for BMS commissioning, supervision audits, or tracking controller program updates.

Use cases

  • BMS commissioning: verify all planned points are present in Niagara
  • Supervision audit: detect unexpected or missing points
  • Program update: identify added, modified or removed points
  • Supervision creation aid: display your point list and copy BACnet names in one click to paste directly into Niagara while building the supervision

How to use the tool

1

Prepare your files

Export your point file from Niagara Workbench (controller or database export) and prepare your planned point list (design file, project point schedule).

2

Import

Choose Comparison mode, select the file format for each file, then drop them into the import zones.

3

Analyse

The results table shows for each point: matched, missing from supervision, not expected, or communication error.

4

Annotate and export

Annotate each point (Validated, Ignored, To check with a comment), then export the XLSX report for traceability.

Supported file formats

Niagara BACnet controller export (.csv)

CSV file exported from Drivers / BacnetNetwork / [controller-name] / Points / AX BACnet Point Manager, after controller point discovery. Columns: Object Name, Object ID, Property ID, Index, Value, Description.

Niagara BACnet database export (.csv)

CSV file exported from the same menu once points are integrated into the Niagara database. Columns: Path, Name, Type, Out, Object ID, Data Type, Fault Cause…

Generic file (.csv, .xlsx, .xls)

Any tabular file: design point list, another SCADA export, project Excel file. Column mapping is fully customisable (point name, BACnet Object ID, equipment, type, description, unit, zone).

Matching key

The two files can be matched on:

BACnet Object ID (matching key BACnet Object ID) — unique and stable identifier, even if the point name changes.
Point name — use when Object ID is not available in both files.
